Booking & pricing

How do I book?

Call or text (419) 575-8211, or send a booking request. We confirm your date and location, then you pay a $200 security deposit and sign the rental agreement and waiver.

What paperwork is required?

A rental agreement, a liability waiver and an acknowledgment of the user manual. You can complete them by email or in person at drop-off.

Setup & space

What space do I need for a mobile sauna?

A level spot our truck and trailer can reach, such as a driveway, a parking area or firm, level ground. The sauna is about 12 feet long on a dual-axle trailer. Keep the area clear of low branches and anything flammable near the chimney. Text us a photo if you’re unsure.

Do I need electricity or water?

Not for heat. The wood stove does all the heating. The LED lights need an extension cord to an outdoor outlet. Keep a hose or some water jugs handy for ladling on the stones and for drinking.

Do I need a permit to have a sauna at my house?

A temporary rental parked on your own private property generally doesn’t need one. Check any HOA rules. Parks, venues and public spaces usually need their own permission, so ask them before booking an event there.

What are the drop-off and pickup times?

Drop-off is usually between 2 and 8 PM and pickup between 9 AM and noon. We’re flexible, so just tell us what works for you.

Can I use my own firewood?

Yes, as long as it’s dry and untreated, with pieces no longer than 13 inches and no wider than 5 inches. Never burn treated, painted or pallet wood. It releases toxic fumes.

Using the sauna

How hot does a wood-fired sauna get, and how long does it take?

Ours reaches about 180–200°F in roughly 45 minutes. Cold or windy weather and the type of wood can change that.

How long should you sit in a sauna?

Most traditional Finnish routines use rounds of 5–20 minutes with a cool-down and water between rounds, 2–3 rounds total. If you’re new, start with 5–10 minutes and leave whenever you feel uncomfortable. In the big Finnish heart study, the average session was about 14 minutes.

How many people fit?

Up to six adults comfortably. Larger groups can take turns in 15–20 minute rounds.

Can I pour water on the stones?

Yes, please do! Ladling water onto the hot stones creates löyly, the soft wave of steam that makes a Finnish sauna special. Use clean water and pour a little at a time. Dumping a lot at once can crack the stones.

How often should you use a sauna?

In long-term Finnish studies, the strongest benefits showed up in people who used a sauna 4–7 times a week, and 2–3 times a week was also linked with lower risk. A multi-day rental is a great way to try a daily sauna habit.

Does a sauna detox your body or help you lose weight?

Not in any meaningful way. Your liver and kidneys do the detoxing, and the weight you lose in a sauna is water that comes back when you rehydrate. Enjoy the sauna for relaxation, recovery and how it makes you feel.

Is a sauna good for you?

For most healthy adults, the research is encouraging. Long-term Finnish studies link frequent sauna use with lower rates of fatal heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke. A single session temporarily lowers blood pressure. These are mostly observational findings, so think of sauna as one healthy habit alongside exercise, sleep and good food. Read the research.

Safety

Who shouldn’t use a sauna?

Check with your doctor first if you have heart disease, high or low blood pressure, take heart or blood-pressure medication, have diabetes or another chronic condition, or are pregnant. Pregnant guests should talk to their provider and should not use the sauna without that OK. As a house rule, children under 12 may not use the sauna.

Can we drink alcohol in the sauna?

No. Please save it for after your sauna and plunge are done. Alcohol is the biggest risk factor for sauna emergencies: in Finland, half of sauna-related deaths involved alcohol. Drink water before, between and after rounds.

Is a wood-fired sauna safe?

Yes, when it’s used as directed. The stove vents through a chimney. Keep kids and pets away from the stove and chimney, never leave the fire unattended with no one nearby, burn only dry untreated wood, and follow the user manual we walk you through at drop-off.
